DCOP (RTD) DR Samuel Amo Mensah is a Gynaccologis hands Obstetrics consultan DCOrd-eborn in 22nd March, 1957. He holds a postgraduate in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FWACS, FGCPS) from the He holds pociand Wetical School as wellas Bsc, MB, Chb, Degres From KNUS-.

He had his housemanship training after his medical education at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi between 1983 and 1985. He worked in St. Patrick’s Hospital Maase-Offinso (District Hospital) as a medical Officer for four (4) years between 1985-1989, after which he was appointed as the District Medical Officer or Health for the Offinso District between 1988-1989. His desire to assist couples with Inectility and Gynaecology issues led him to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The postgraduate programme lasted for five (5) years during which he had three (3). The postfective program in the United States of America in three different hospitals; Louisiana State University Medical Centre, St. Johns Mercy Hospital and the University Of Michizan Medical Centre. In all these hospitals, he familiarized himself with most of the modern practices of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

After his qualification as a specialist in April 1996, he practiced in Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital until April 1997 after which he joined Provita Specialist Hospital in Tema which is the pioneer of In- Vitro fertilization (IVF) in Ghana, where he gained more experience in the management of complex and difficult Obstetric and Gynecological
cases.

He moved on to joined the Ghana Police Hospital in February 2000 as a Specialist with the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police. Dr. Amo-Mensah progressed from his initial rank to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) in 2006 and 2014 respectively. He was later appointed as the Medical Director of the hospital in 2014, a position he occupied until his retirement on 22nd March 2017.

Dr Samuel Amo-Mensah established a specialist hospital know as Sam-J Specialist Hospital in February 2010, where he continued to work after retirement.

The vision and mission of the hospital is to offer world class tertiary healthcare for the community and country at large and also to provide prompt, holistic, optimum and quality healthcare services for all its clients in a homely atmosphere.
